Description of the Drawing
This braille drawing shows a nutcracker figure. You can crack the nuts in its mouth using a lever on its back. The nutcracker is depicted from the front. It resembles a king or hussar, both motifs that are very often used as nutcracker models. Like a real nutcracker, the one in our braille drawing is standing at attention. Its legs are firmly anchored on a base. The arms are pointing straight down, with its hands protruding a little from the sleeves. The nutcracker figure is wearing a large headdress (a crown or a hussar cap). It has a belt buckled around its waist. Both eyes, nose and mouth can be felt on the face. The hair is hinted at to the left and right of the face, peeking out from under the headdress. Its mouth is wide open and there is a nut in the opening ready to be cracked (these decorative nutcrackers are less suitable for cracking particularly hard nuts, however).
This braille drawing was originally created for the non-profit organisation einfach machbar e. V. during the project “Blind Children Draw Pictures – Drawing with Letters” financed by the charity Aktion Mensch.
